Bright floral arrangements find themselves forgotten

deep beneath layers of debris.

Their ephemeral beauty, now rotten and wilted

no longer pleasing the eye to see.

Laughter and joy consume the soul for quick moments,

until they join the fleeting memories that came before.

Jubilant smiles fade as enjoyment

deflates, and chagrin overtakes encore.

Exterior beauty dissolves and proves to be transitory,

while interior charm remains imperishable.

One is favored over the other, yet wanes into a story,

while the latter will forever be veritable.

Surrounded constantly by impermanent and interminable sentiments,

remembering our duration on Earth is to our benefit.

Appreciate the small, eccentric instances that make life enjoyable,

oftentimes they are the memories that are the most forgettable.
